Nearly 50% of nurse triage calls end in self-care, not a claim. That single data point is reshaping how forward-thinking employers think about the first 30 minutes after a workplace injury.
Traditional models push every reported injury straight into the claims system. Nurse triage inverts that flow. A registered nurse takes the call, assesses the injury, and routes the worker to the right level of care, self-care at home, urgent care, ER, or the preferred medical network. Roughly half the time, the answer is a warm handoff to first aid guidance and a stay-at-work plan.
Atlas builds triage as the front door to every service line, not an add-on. When an injured worker is met by a nurse instead of a form, three things happen at once, faster resolution, fewer unnecessary ER visits, and a claims record that stays clean for the ones that don't need to become claims.
Risk & Insurance covered the shift in a recent piece on maintaining trust through claims. The economics follow the trust, MyMatrixx's own study showed claims closing 79 days faster with early clinical intervention.
What's stopping more employers from making nurse triage the default first response to a workplace injury?
