The National Safety Council's latest research grants funded university teams that reduced musculoskeletal disorder risk at major manufacturers using wearables and AI motion analysis. Ergonomic risk is being surfaced before it becomes an injury, in real time, on the shop floor.

North Carolina State built an augmented-reality tool that shows a worker their ergonomic reach limits as they move. Oregon State used smartphone video and machine learning to estimate lower-back injury risk. Virginia Tech built an AI model for fair, accurate physical exposure assessment.

The common thread across all three studies was not the technology. It was frontline worker trust. A safety tool that looks strong in a lab only matters if the person wearing it during a shift trusts it, understands it, and will actually use it.

Atlas partners with employers who take injury prevention as seriously as they take claims management. The most defensible workers' comp program is the one where the claim never had to be filed.

Which prevention investments has your workplace made in the past year that actually changed injury frequency, and which just changed the reporting?
